Acupuncture and moxibustion for the treatment of diseases

Moxibustion refers to the moxa leaves made of moxa sticks, moxa pillars and other materials, ignited or placed on the body surface acupuncture points or specific parts of the body, burning, warm ironing, through the stimulation of meridian qi activities to adjust the body’s disorders of the physiological and biochemical functions, so as to achieve the purpose of prevention and treatment of a therapeutic method. Moxibustion has the effect of benefiting qi and warming yang, warming the meridians and dispersing cold, eliminating blood stasis and dispersing knots, and moving qi and collaterals. Moxibustion is suitable for deficiency and cold symptoms, such as cold limbs, fear of cold, abdominal pain and scanty stools, joint pain caused by cold and dampness, gastric ptosis caused by qi deficiency, prolapse of the anus, uterine prolapse, and prolonged illness and weakness. Facial and other exposed parts, joints should not be directly moxibustion; thin skin, less flesh, large blood vessels, the heart, pregnant women’s lumbosacral and lower abdomen, nipples, the pubic region should not be moxibustion; inflammation should not be moxibustion. Moxibustion is not recommended for women during menstruation; moxibustion is not recommended for people with high fever, coma, convulsions, and extreme physical exhaustion.
