Before the glucose tolerance test, diet and medication should be adjusted, and the standard process of the test should be strictly followed during the test, and if there is any abnormality, the treatment should follow the doctor’s advice in time. 1. Diet: Before the glucose tolerance test, we must pay attention to dietary adjustments. 3 days before the test, we should have a normal diet, do not reduce dietary intake, and we do not recommend excessive consumption of oily, high-sugar foods, so as not to affect the results, and we should have an empty stomach for 8 to 10 hours before the test. 2. Drugs: If the tested person is under insulin treatment, he/she should stop using it three days before the test under the guidance of doctor, and then follow the doctor’s instruction to resume using it after the test is finished. If you are taking contraceptives such as mifepristone and levonorgestrel, glucocorticosteroids such as methylprednisone and betamethasone, and diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide, you should stop using them for more than a week in order to avoid false positives. 3. Standard procedure of the test: At present, the oral method is commonly used for glucose tolerance test. On the day of the test, venous blood should be drawn on an empty stomach, and then glucose should be dissolved in 200-300 milliliters of water under the guidance of the tester and consumed within 3-5 minutes. Blood should be drawn and sent for testing 0.5, 1, 2 and 3 hours after drinking respectively. If the glucose tolerance test is abnormal, life interventions under the guidance of a doctor are required, and medication is needed if necessary.
