What does menopause mean?

Menopause, also known as perimenopause, is the period of time between the onset of ovarian function and the year after menopause.

Between the ages of 45 and 55, a woman’s ovarian function declines and the number of follicles decreases and becomes underdeveloped, which may lead to irregular menstruation until menstruation stops permanently. The period of time between the decline in ovarian function and one year after menopause is called perimenopause, or what we commonly refer to as menopause.

During perimenopause, due to the gradual decrease in the level of estrogen in the body, the patient may exhibit hot flashes, sweating, emotional instability, irritability and depression, etc. These psychoneurological symptoms are also a characteristic manifestation of menopause.

If the patient has serious menopausal symptoms or other discomforts, he/she should go to the hospital in time for treatment.
