Liver stones should be accurately described as intrahepatic bile duct stones. Long-term stone irritation increases the risk of cancerous intrahepatic bile ducts, but it is not always possible to develop cancer within a few years.
Intrahepatic bile duct stones are a kind of bile duct stones, which are relatively difficult to treat but very harmful, and can cause intrahepatic bile duct obstruction, bile duct dilatation, cholangitis, atrophy or fibrosis of liver segments or lobes, liver abscess, biliary hemorrhage, and other diseases, which will cause fever, jaundice, and pain in the right upper abdomen and other manifestations. Long-term repeated obstruction may even lead to cirrhosis.
Long-term chronic inflammation, bile stasis, stone friction and other factors may induce intrahepatic bile duct epithelial carcinoma and form intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. Therefore, it is suggested that patients should be treated as early as possible, remove the stones in time and relieve the obstruction of bile ducts, so as to avoid leading to serious complications.
