Time to recurrence of metastasis after gastric cancer surgery

  The time of metastasis recurrence after gastric cancer surgery is mainly related to the time of gastric cancer surgery and the malignancy degree of the tumor, whether it is metastatic or not, and cannot be generalized.  Surgery for gastric cancer may be the only way to cure gastric cancer patients, but even with surgery, there is a possibility of metastatic recurrence. For early stage gastric cancer patients, metastatic recurrence may not occur for about 5 years or even longer; for patients with intermediate and advanced gastric cancer, metastatic recurrence may occur in 3-5 years, or less if the patient has poor health; if the surgery is successful, it may not occur for 1-2 years, but if there is residual, it may recur in a few months; if the malignant degree is high, such as Indocellular carcinoma, it may recur in about 6 months, and the exact time varies from person to person. Therefore, it is recommended that post-operative gastric cancer patients should follow medical advice, actively cooperate with the treatment, and go to oncology department for regular review. They should pay attention to their diet, adjust their mentality and enhance their physical fitness.
