What is meant by otter tail liver

Otter tail liver is commonly known as encircling liver and is a benign structural change in the liver. This condition is usually named otter tail liver after the patient’s left lobe protrudes posteriorly to the left, resembling an otter’s tail. If the liver function is normal, it does not need to be treated. However, there is another condition where the patient looks at the possibility of having a fatty liver, usually through ultrasound, which will reveal whether the patient has a moderate, mild or severe fatty liver. In these cases, if the patient has fatty liver, further blood tests are needed to see if there is an elevation in blood lipids. If the blood lipids are elevated and there is a combination of fatty liver, the patient needs to pay attention to changing the daily habits, such as exercising more, walking, jogging, and moderately eating foods rich in vitamin C. In case of mild fatty liver and mildly elevated blood lipids, the patient can take deep-sea fish oil and other health supplements in moderation for treatment. If the fatty liver is severe or the patient has high blood lipids, this situation should be actively considered to take atorvastatin and other drugs to lower the blood lipids treatment. In addition, patients should pay attention to not drinking alcohol and regular observation and review.
