Significance of the five ebv antibody tests

The simultaneous detection of EBVNA IgG, EBVVCAIgM, and EBVVCAIgA is valuable in distinguishing recovering patients from those in the acute phase. ebv is the agent of infectious mononucleosis and is associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Elevated EBVNA IgG levels in patients with infectious mononucleosis indicate that the patient is moving from early recovery to late recovery. elevated EBVVCA IgM levels indicate acute infection, while elevated EBVVCA IgM levels may indicate evolution from early to acute infection, and similarly decreased EBVVCA IgM levels may indicate evolution from acute to early warning infection . The presence of EBVNAIgG in healthy individuals indicates past EBV infection, while the presence of EBVVCAIgG indicates asymptomatic initial infection and past infection.
