Do migraines run in the next generation? More than 50% of migraine patients have a family history of migraine, and children of migraine patients with aura have four times the risk of developing migraine. Therefore, multiple migraineurs can occur in a single family. Asking the patient if there is a family history is an important reference in the diagnosis of migraine. Conversely, it is wrong to say that children must have migraine if their parents have migraine. A parent with migraine is much more likely to have a child with migraine, but not necessarily to have migraine…! In terms of the etiology of headache, organic headache caused by primary causes such as infection, poisoning, trauma and tumor is obviously not related to heredity, while headache caused by cerebrovascular diseases (such as hypertensive encephalopathy, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral thrombosis, etc.) has a genetic tendency. There have been many reports about the genetic problems of migraine at home and abroad. According to epidemiological surveys, the genetic prevalence of migraine accounts for 20%-80%. Most of the genetic patterns are consistent with autosomal dominant inheritance, while a few cases are autosomal recessive and polygenic. In the genetic group, typical migraine is predominantly inherited from mothers to daughters and can be inherited from one generation to another. There is a significant difference between typical migraine with a family history of inheritance in 51% and common migraine in 21%; the incidence of migraine in children of both parents is as high as 76.2%. Migraineurs with a positive family history have an earlier age of onset and a longer duration of illness than those with common migraine. There is no doubt that genetic factors play a role in the development of migraine, but the exact pathogenesis of migraine is not well understood. In neurofunctional (or psychogenic) headache, its occurrence is related to psychological qualities and environmental factors. Its genetic predisposition is not as clear as that of migraine. People with adverse mental stimulation, psychological depression, mental stress or fatigue are prone to the onset of the disease.
