Pancreatic echoes are uneven and the pancreatic duct is not dilated, pancreatitis may or may not be present, and other clinical investigations are needed.
Pancreatic echogenicity with undilated pancreatic ducts is an imaging description from abdominal ultrasound. Usually this sign may be a recovery from acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, or no disease.
A detailed clinical history is needed, asking the examiner if he or she has had any recent symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting, if there is a history of overeating, and checking for serum lipase, blood and urinary amylase, and even CT of the pancreas, to clarify the presence or absence of pancreatitis.
If there are no symptoms mentioned above and the examination is normal, regular review is sufficient. On the contrary, if the test results are abnormal, immediate hospitalization is recommended.
