Traumatic pupil deformity can be treated with surgery?

Pupil deformity caused by trauma usually requires no special treatment if it is caused by a rim of the pupil or a laceration of the iris stroma, while pupil deformity caused by a dislocation of the root of the iris can be treated by surgery. Trauma can lead to iris pupillary rim rupture, pupillary sphincter rupture, and also longitudinal iris stromal fissure. In these cases, the pupil will have irregular fissure, i.e., pupil deformation, which generally does not require any special treatment in terms of treatment. Trauma can also lead to iris root dissection, in which case a half-moon shaped defect can be observed at the root of the iris, the pupil will appear “D” shaped changes, and the patient may also have the symptom of monocular diplopia, which needs to be treated with surgical methods, such as iris suturing, to improve the uncomfortable symptoms. It is recommended that patients with ocular trauma seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
