How to medicate facial neuralgia

Facial neuralgia generally refers to trigeminal neuralgia, which can be treated by taking drugs such as carbamazepine, microvascular decompression surgery, closed treatment, electrocoagulation treatment, gamma knife treatment and so on.

1. Drug treatment: Carbamazepine is the first choice of drug for primary trigeminal neuralgia treatment, in addition to phenytoin sodium, gabapentin, pregabalin and other drugs. Secondary trigeminal neuralgia can be relieved by taking carbamazepine or phenytoin sodium, and keep the mood happy to avoid triggering pain.

2. Microvascular decompression surgery: through the microscope line surgery to separate the blood vessels around the trigeminal nerve displacement, so as to release the blood vessels on the trigeminal nerve compression, relieve pain.

3. Closure therapy: for patients who are not satisfied with medication and have no expectation of surgery, anhydrous ethanol and glycerin can be used to seal the trigeminal nerve branches or semilunar ganglion, destroying the nerve cells, thus causing sensory dysfunction and relieving pain.

4. Electrocoagulation therapy: X-ray or CT-guided radiofrequency needles can be used to reach the trigeminal nerve through percutaneous puncture, which can selectively destroy the sensory nerves that conduct warm pain sensation.

5. Gamma Knife Therapy: Gamma rays are used to irradiate the trigeminal nerve to reduce the sensitivity of the trigeminal nerve and relieve the symptoms.

Be careful to use the medication under the guidance of your physician.
