Is Down Screening Free?

Down’s syndrome screening is not free and is usually done around 12 weeks to 17 weeks of pregnancy. Down’s syndrome screening checks for the possibility of Down’s syndrome and genetic disorders such as neural tube defects in the fetus. If the risk of Down’s syndrome is high, the fetus should be alerted to the disease and further amniocentesis or non-invasive DNA tests should be performed to check the fetal chromosomes to determine if the fetus has the disease. It is important to actively improve the relevant prenatal checkups during pregnancy to detect and treat the problem in time to prevent serious developmental problems. The lack of timely detection leads to the birth of malformed children, which can increase the burden on families as well as society. Attention needs to be paid to avoid viral infections in early pregnancy to prevent infection of the fetus, which can lead to developmental malformations.
