Gamma Knife is suitable for advanced liver cancer and belongs to the comprehensive treatment system of liver cancer, which can reduce the recurrence and metastasis rate of the tumor, and is more therapeutic for patients who have lost the indication of surgery. Liver cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in China, radical resection of liver cancer is the first choice of treatment, but most of the cases have lost the chance of radical surgery at the time of diagnosis, and the total surgical resection rate is not more than 30%. In recent years, the recognized mode of treatment for liver cancer is the comprehensive treatment instead of a single means of treatment. Gamma Knife treatment is a kind of filled three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, its high dose distribution area is highly consistent with the target area of the tumor, normal tissues are only subjected to scanning irradiation amount in the treatment process, with fast dose attenuation, which effectively protects the normal tissues. Moreover, the course of radiotherapy is shorter, and it usually completes the treatment plan in about 2~3 weeks, which reduces the chances of accelerated re-proliferation of residual tumor cells. After the end of gamma knife treatment, according to the different conditions, intratumor injection of anhydrous alcohol or acetic acid and/or immunomodulatory factor is performed again, and at the same time, systemic immune, supportive and symptomatic treatments are supplemented to reduce the toxic side effects, which not only improves the rate of localized control of the tumor, but also kills the tiny metastatic foci in the other parts of the body, delays the recurrence and metastasis of the tumor, and improves the quality of patient’s survival and prolongs the period of survival.
