Autism is treated with rehabilitation and education as the most effective and commonly used treatment methods. The behavioral treatment methods commonly used for educational training of children with autism include the positive reinforcement method, the chain-link method, and the shaping method. The chain-link method is mainly a method of dividing the target behavior into many small steps and training children with autism to learn each small step so that they can master the entire target behavior. The shaping method is to help the child master one behavior that is related to or close to the target behavior. After the child masters this behavior, the child is then helped to master another one that is closer to the target behavior until the child gradually learns the target behavior. Whichever behavior modification method is chosen, it should be determined by the goals that need to be established. For language learning, the shaping method can be used, while for life skills such as dressing, the chain-link method can be chosen. Whether the shaping method or the chain-link method is chosen, it should be accompanied by positive reinforcement, for example, if the child learns to put on shoes, he or she should be given positive reinforcement stimuli such as cookies.
