Does safranin cure Helicobacter pylori?

There is not enough evidence to prove that safranin can treat Helicobacter pylori, and the current treatment of Helicobacter pylori mainly adopts quadruple therapy. Huanglianin is a quaternary ammonium alkaloid isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine Huanglian, which is the main active ingredient, with a wide antibacterial spectrum, and in vitro it has an inhibitory effect on a variety of Gram-positive and negative bacteria, among which it has a strong inhibitory effect on Gram-positive bacteria, Vibrio cholerae, hemolytic streptococcus, typhoid fever bacillus, shigella dysentery bacillus, diphtheria bacillus, and so on. However, there is not enough evidence to prove that safranin can kill Helicobacter pylori. At present, the clinical treatment of H. pylori mainly adopts the quadruple therapy of one proton pump inhibitor + two antibiotics + one bismuth agent for the treatment of H. pylori, such as omeprazole + amoxicillin + metronidazole + bismuth potassium citrate. If patients have H. pylori infection, they should avoid using medication at will by themselves and go to the hospital for consultation and treatment in time.
