What is the survival rate after tertiary surgery for oligodendroglioma?

There is no exact reference for the survival period of oligodendroglioma after grade III surgery. According to clinical experience, the survival period is usually about 2~5 years, and the specific situation varies from person to person.
The degree of malignancy of grade 3 oligodendroglioma is relatively high. Through surgical resection and postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy, most patients can survive for about 3 years.
Some patients with grade 3 oligodendroglioma who are younger, in good physical condition, and whose tumors are located in non-functional areas, have complete tumor resection during surgery, and are able to actively undergo comprehensive treatments such as postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the survival period of such patients can be up to about 5 years, or even longer.
If the patient is older, weaker, the tumor is located in the functional region, or the residual tumor could not be removed during the operation, and the postoperative treatment of radiotherapy and chemotherapy is not timely, the survival period of the patient tends to be shorter, usually around two years.
It is recommended that patients found with oligodendroglioma grade III should go to regular hospitals in time and be treated actively under the guidance of doctors in order to prolong the survival time of patients as much as possible.
