Beware of osteoporosis when you move!

Currently, there are nearly 70 million osteoporosis patients over the age of 50 in China, but the number of consultations is less than 1/900. When a person reaches middle age, the bone mass will begin to slowly lose, resulting in osteoporosis. This not only increases the risk of bone fractures, but also leads to frequent “micro-fractures”, resulting in bone pain and affecting the quality of life. Osteoporosis is highly prevalent, and we should be alert to the symptoms. Pain is the most common symptom of primary osteoporosis, and is characterized by low back pain, which is not fixed in location. The pain caused by osteoporosis is usually aggravated after standing or sitting for a long time, bending, exercising, coughing, and alleviated after sitting down or lying down; the pain is mild during the daytime, and aggravated at night and in the early morning. Zengkang cervical and lumbar spine hospital experts pointed out that: osteoporosis patients when the loss of a large part of the bone, bone in the crisscrossing bone trabeculae break the number of times and parts will increase, the formation of a number of “micro-fractures”, which leads to bone pain. In addition to pain, hunching and shortening of height is also a major symptom of osteoporosis. The front part of the vertebrae of the spine is mostly composed of cancellous bone, and this part of the spine carries the most weight and is easy to be compressed and deformed, which makes the spine tilt forward and increases the curvature of the back, forming a hunchback. When osteoporosis occurs in the elderly, the vertebrae are compressed and the length of the body is shortened by an average of 3 to 6 centimeters. How to prevent osteoporosis? It is recommended that middle-aged and elderly people do a bone density test once a year, and early preventive intervention under the guidance of a doctor. Dietary intake of adequate calcium and vitamin D, you can often eat milk, cheese, shrimp and other high-calcium foods. According to the recommendations of the Chinese Nutrition Society, adults should consume 800 mg of calcium daily, and 1,000 mg for pregnant and lactating women. It is also necessary to supplement vitamin D, which can promote the absorption and utilization of calcium and slow down the aging of bones. Appropriate exercise is also necessary, bone “use in waste”, at least half an hour of exercise a day can delay bone loss. Rapid walking, jogging, table tennis, badminton, and even the old people’s favorite twisting rice-planting songs, are very good sports. In addition, 20 minutes in the sun every day can also maintain bones. It should be noted that if you already have osteoporosis, just supplementing calcium is not effective.
