Donglingcao tablets can only be used as an adjunct to treat chronic pharyngitis, not to get rid of the root cause. Chronic pharyngitis belongs to the category of laryngeal paralysis in traditional Chinese medicine (redness, swelling and pain in the pharynx, or dryness, foreign body sensation, or itchy and discomfort in the pharynx, difficulty in swallowing), which is generally caused by external wind-cold, wind-heat, deficiency of qi and blood, and stagnation and depression of qi and liver. Donglingcao Tablet is a heat-clearing and detoxifying (removing heat and toxicity from the body) proprietary Chinese medicine, which is usually used as an adjunct in the treatment of chronic pharyngitis and cannot completely eradicate the disease. Donglingcao Tablet is composed of Donglingcao, which has the effects of relieving sore throat, clearing heat and removing toxins, subduing swelling and dispersing lumps. It is mainly used for the treatment of sore throat and hoarseness caused by heat and toxin congestion; tonsillitis, pharyngitis, stomatitis, and the adjuvant treatment of cancer. The adverse reactions and contraindications of this product are not clear. Discomfort should be timely medical treatment, under the guidance of the physician’s identification and selection of medication, not self-medication, so as not to delay the condition.
