Can rheumatic diseases be cured?

Rheumatic diseases are autoimmune diseases, which are usually difficult to cure. The causes of rheumatic diseases are complex, mainly related to infection, immunity, metabolism, environment, genetics and tumor, etc. The prognosis is affected by the patient’s disease type, physical condition, severity of the disease and sensitivity to medication. Therefore, drugs should be applied to control the disease as soon as it is detected. For active rheumatism with organ damage, short-term application of small doses of glucocorticoids and oral medications to improve the disease, such as methotrexate, leflunomide, and elamod, can be considered to control further progression of the disease. Patients with good conditions can also consider the application of biological agents, which have good effects on rheumatoid and other rheumatic diseases. In addition, patients should also avoid straining in daily life, avoid wind and cold and humidity, avoid sleeping on the floor and staying in air-conditioned rooms for a long time; eat a light diet with easily digestible, high-protein foods; strengthen daily exercise to improve joint function and prevent muscle atrophy through exercise. In short, rheumatism can not be cured, patients must be under the guidance of doctors for formal drug treatment, do not believe in certain prescriptions, so as not to delay the disease.
