Only a small percentage of lung nodules can be self-healed by strengthening the body’s own immune system through regular diet, exercise and good lifestyle habits; most lung nodules require further examination and treatment in the hospital to be cured.
Lung nodules are localized lesions with a diameter of ≤3 cm on lung imaging. They can be categorized into benign and malignant nodules. Benign nodules include pneumonia, tuberculosis, inflammatory pseudotumor, misshapen tumor, sarcoidosis, and nodular disease. Malignant nodules include malignant diseases such as lung cancer, metastatic cancer and lymphoma.
Lung nodules are more likely to be malignant in patients who are elderly, smokers, and have large nodules with irregular or hairy margins.
Therefore, when lung nodules are found during physical examination, they should go to the thoracic surgery department or respiratory department of the hospital for further examination and treatment in time to avoid delaying their condition.
