Conservative treatment of mycobacteria in sinusitis

Mycobacteria normally exist in nature and may cause such diseases only when the resistance of the organism decreases or when the ability of a particular part of the sinuses to resist invasion is reduced. The CT examination of the sinuses enables the initial diagnosis. Surgery is preferred and conservative treatment with drugs is not recommended, because fungal sinusitis, after a long period of time, forms fungal balls in the sinuses and it is difficult for drugs to eliminate such fungal balls. The purpose of surgery is to remove the diseased tissue, establish ventilation of the nasal cavity and sinuses, and avoid being in a humid environment that can lead to re-infection of the mold, and there is usually no need to use antifungal medication after surgery. If it is caused by allergic factors, the condition can be controlled by appropriate oral glucocorticoids, as well as intranasal glucocorticoid nasal spray.
