How to correct left-right facial asymmetry

Left-right facial asymmetry is often accompanied by bite force disorders and cannot be resolved by orthodontic treatment alone. It can be corrected by different surgeries according to the patient’s condition in plastic surgery and medical aesthetics department.
1. If the patient’s maxilla and above structure is basically symmetrical, simple mandibular asymmetry, good occlusal relationship can be corrected by mandibular body contouring and mandibular angle revision; if the patient’s maxilla and above structure is basically symmetrical, simple mandibular asymmetry, 2. poor occlusal relationship should be preoperative orthodontic de-compensated for the design of the overall surgery of the mandibular bone.
Sometimes the direction cannot be precisely controlled and a two-stage surgery is needed; if the patient has asymmetry of the mandible and the maxillary plane is tilted from side to side and the maxilla is asymmetrical, it should be corrected by a bimaxillary surgery; if the patient has a significant difference in growth of the bilateral condyles, a high level resection of the condyle on the side of the mandibular pathology is needed when performing the upper and lower mandibular surgeries.
Patients can choose the appropriate corrective surgery according to their own situation and under the guidance of doctors for timely treatment.
