What is the reason for not passing the 42-day hearing screening in the left ear?

An initial hearing screening is performed within 48-72 hours after birth, and for children who fail the initial screening, a re-screening is performed at 42 days. If the left ear still fails the 42-day rescreening, it proves that the left ear has risk factors for hearing impairment. The 42-day re-screening will basically give you an idea of your baby’s hearing status. Such a baby needs to be followed up regularly and should be seen between 3 months and 6 months of age at a higher level hospital or hearing deficiency diagnosis center for audiology related tests and diagnostics. If a hearing defect is diagnosed it should be treated with intervention at the age of 6 months.
