How long does it take to remove the nail in a second surgery for a patella fracture?

Patellar fracture can be removed about 1~2 years after surgery, depending on the performance of the review CT. The main way of surgical treatment for patellar fracture is tension band wire internal fixation, and it takes about 1~2 years to recover (through the period of bone scab remodeling and shaping) after fracture surgery. Therefore, in about 1~2 years, X-ray should be reviewed to observe the healing of the fracture, and the tension band wire can be taken out in the second surgery after the healing is confirmed. After healing is determined, the patella is removed with internal fixation, using the same incision and anesthesia as the first placement procedure. As soon as the wound is stabilized after the removal of the patella fracture, it is possible to go down to the ground without braking. Rehabilitation exercises, mainly active bending of the knee and isometric contraction of the muscles of the lower limbs, are also recommended.
