Western medicines for meniscus injuries

Western medications used to treat meniscus injuries are mainly non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as diclofenac sodium, which can be used for pain relief in the acute stage. Patients with meniscus injuries with more severe pain can take NSAIDs to reduce pain, such as diclofenac sodium, ibuprofen, and aspirin. Common adverse reactions to medications include gastrointestinal irritation, such as stomach pain and nausea. They can be taken with meals to minimize adverse irritation. Care should also be taken not to inject drugs into the joint cavity for analgesia, as this may cause intra-articular infections. When the effect of conservative treatment is not obvious, or the degree of damage is more serious, surgical treatment is needed, including meniscus repair, meniscectomy.
