Does the mother’s diarrhea affect the child’s breastfeeding?

The mother’s diarrhea has an effect on the child’s breast milk. Many breastfeeding women develop diarrhea due to bacterial or viral infections of the intestinal system. Bacteria and viruses not only invade the intestinal system, but also affect the quality of the milk, causing it to contain some of the bacteria or viruses. Eating breast milk can then cause some of the bacteria and viruses to invade the newborn’s body, causing the newborn to develop diarrhea as well. Some women even need to use antibiotics when they have diarrhea because of the severity of their condition, and some of the ingredients of the antibiotics will be secreted through the breast milk, resulting in some of the antibiotic drugs in the breast milk, which will affect the newborn’s physical development and health. Mothers should stop breastfeeding during diarrhea and preferably use the formula feeding method, and breastfeed only after the diarrhea symptoms have improved.
