Subacute thyroiditis is generally referred to as subacute thyroiditis, and the difference between subacute thyroiditis and hypothyroidism lies in the etiology, clinical manifestations, and treatment methods.
1. Causes: Hypothyroidism, also known as hypothyroidism, is usually caused by autoimmune thyroiditis, thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatment, iodine overdose or iodine deficiency; subacute thyroiditis is usually caused by viral infections.
2. Clinical manifestations: hypothyroidism can be characterized by fatigue, bradycardia, weight gain, abdominal distension, constipation, etc. Subacute thyroiditis can be characterized by symptoms of thyrotoxicosis in the early stages of the disease, such as fear of heat, excessive sweating, palpitations, and weight loss, while in the middle stages of the disease hypothyroidism can be characterized by symptoms of chills, fatigue, and constipation.
3. Treatment: Hypothyroidism can be treated with levothyroxine sodium tablets to keep thyroid hormone levels within a reasonable range; non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, can be used to treat mild symptoms of subacute thyroiditis, and glucocorticoids can be used to treat more severe symptoms.
When symptoms of hypothyroidism or subacute thyroiditis occur, it is recommended to go to the hospital.
