What does intrinsic muscle layer mean?

The intrinsic muscular layer is mainly part of the surface mucosa in the digestive tract. Within the mucosa of the digestive tract of the organism, in the lower part of the mucosal layer, there are two layers of smooth muscle, the inner and outer ring layers, in which a part of the muscle fibers are located around the mucosal layer and can regulate the level of various hormones secreted by the glands in the digestive tract, and the outer layer is connected to the muscular layer of the digestive tract through connective tissue. The intrinsic muscular layer is part of the mucosal layer, but is not part of the muscular layer of the digestive tract itself. The intrinsic muscular layer of the digestive tract is a good place to develop various benign and malignant tumors. If there is a lesion in the intrinsic muscular layer, gastroscopy and other related examinations are needed to make a clear diagnosis, and the treatment is usually surgical.
