There is no clinical statement about which treatment gets better faster. The main development depends on what kind of treatment is suitable for the patient’s symptoms. It can be divided into two different ways: conservative treatment and surgical treatment.
1. Conservative treatment: At the stage when the patient’s clinical symptoms are mild and the problem of imaging prominence is not obvious, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medications can be given to help the patient, as well as rest and physical therapy modalities such as massage and acupuncture to relieve the symptoms. Generally speaking, most of the herniated discs can be relieved through conservative treatment, which means that they can be cured clinically, also called functional rehabilitation.
2. Surgery: In severe cases of lumbar disc herniation, the symptoms are severe, affecting walking, and at the same time, the imaging shows obvious disc herniation and serious compression of the nerves, which is the indication for surgery. Surgery is recommended, and the specific surgery should be done in the hospital, and the doctor will give the appropriate treatment.
