What are the chances of a thymoma being benign

Because benign thymomas also have the potential to recur and metastasize, they are all currently considered to be malignant tumors. Thymomas are a relatively rare group of tumors that are commonly found in the anterior mediastinum. According to available studies, many early stage thymic tumors that were previously benign also have the potential to recur and metastasize after surgery; therefore, the terminology of malignant or benign thymoma associated with thymoma is no longer appropriate and all thymic tumors are now considered as malignant tumors. The World Health Organization pathology classification classifies thymoma as a thymic epithelial tumor, with an incidence of approximately 1.3 to 3.2 per million. Early thymic tumors may have no obvious symptoms. As the disease progresses, symptoms of tumor compression such as chest pain and dyspnea may appear. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for diagnosis and treatment.
