The eyelashes will grow back after they are removed unless the lash capsule is destroyed and the eyelashes stop growing, so clinically, after the eyelash removal, the patient may continue to come in after a while and go to the hospital to have the eyelashes removed because they will grow back. There are procedures where the eyelash capsule is destroyed by electrolysis and the eyelashes will not grow back out. Eyelashes, like hair, are in a process of constant renewal and alternate growth, with a cycle of about 3-5 months. The eyelashes that are removed usually start growing again after a week, growing about 1-2mm per week and growing back to their original length in about 10 weeks, so this is why people who have their eyelashes removed have to do it repeatedly, usually once every 2-3 months, and after the eyelashes grow to their original length, they will maintain it for five months, fall off and then grow back, fall off and repeat the process.
