Clinical symptoms of EBV infection may include fever, pharyngitis, enlarged lymph nodes, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, skin rash, etc. Some people also show asymptomatic latent infection. 1. Fever: the temperature can be as high as 38.5-40.0℃, which is irregular and can last for several days or even weeks. 2. Pharyngitis: most patients may have symptoms of sore throat, and congestion and edema can be seen in some pharynx and tonsils. 3. Enlarged lymph nodes: some patients may have enlarged superficial lymph nodes all over the body, and enlarged lymph nodes in the neck are common, mostly asymmetric, without pressure and pain, or accompanied by slight pressure and pain. 4. Enlarged liver and spleen: a few patients may have enlarged liver and spleen on abdominal ultrasound and abnormal liver function in blood. 5. Rash: some patients may show limb rash, which is more common on the trunk, and may be maculopapular rash or nodular erythema, without itching. EBV infection is mostly occult infection, but also common in the following diseases: infectious mononucleosis, chronic active EBV infection, EBV infection-related lymphoproliferative disease, EBV infection-related tumors.
