Tuberculosis is known as consumption in Chinese medicine, characterized by cough, hemoptysis, hot flashes (a burst of fever), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, but sweating stops after waking up), and gradual wasting of the body. Deficiency of yin and yang: symptoms such as coughing and wheezing with blood, hot flashes, night sweating, cold (cold body), cold limbs, and diarrhea (diarrhea before dawn).
