What is the treatment of tuberculosis in Chinese medicine

Tuberculosis is known as consumption in Chinese medicine, characterized by cough, hemoptysis, hot flashes (a burst of fever), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, but sweating stops after waking up), and gradual wasting of the body. Chinese medicine treatments are mainly based on identification of evidence, and medicines can be taken according to the different types of evidence, such as Yuehua Pill, Lily Solid Gold Soup, and so on. 1. Lung yin deficiency (deficiency of yin and fluid in the lungs): symptoms include dry cough, sputum with blood or blood spots, accompanied by heat in the hands and feet, dry mouth and throat, and mild night sweating. Treatment is based on the principle of nourishing yin and moistening the lungs (replenishing the yin fluid in the body to moisturize the lungs), and can be treated by adding or subtracting Yuehua Pill. 2. Burning of lungs by deficiency fire: symptoms include coughing and shortness of breath, hemoptysis at times, bright red blood, hot flashes in the afternoon, five heart-heat (heat in the hearts of the hands and feet, and self-consciousness of the heart and chest), night sweating, thirst, and heartburn, etc. The treatment is to nourish yin and reduce fire (nourishing the yin fluid in the body to nourish the lungs). Treatment should focus on nourishing yin and lowering fire (nourishing yin essence and lowering fire), and may use Lily Solid Gold Soup combined with Macrophyllum Gentianum Tetrapterosum plus or minus to treat the symptoms. 3. Qi and yin deficiency (deficiency of both qi and yin): symptoms include weak cough, shortness of breath, low voice, hot flashes in the afternoon, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating when there is a slight movement), night sweating, and zygomatic redness (reddening of the cheeks and zygomatic bones). Treatment is based on benefiting qi and nourishing yin (replenishing qi and nourishing yin), which can be treated by adding or subtracting Pao Zhen Tang to treat the symptoms. 4. Deficiency of yin and yang: symptoms such as coughing and wheezing with blood, hot flashes, night sweating, cold (cold body), cold limbs, and diarrhea (diarrhea before dawn). Treatment is based on nourishing the yin and replenishing the yang, and the symptoms can be treated by adding or subtracting tonic day dazao pill. If you are suffering from tuberculosis, you should consult your clinician for treatment plan and take the medication as prescribed by your doctor, not self-medication.
