What’s going on with the punctate strong echoes in the right and left ventricles?

Dotted strong echoes in the right and left ventricles are diagnostic findings on ultrasound in pregnant women. It is a common clinical phenomenon and does not mean that the fetus is abnormal or has heart disease. Most of the strong echoes will shrink with the increase of gestational weeks, and the intensity of the echoes will gradually diminish, and almost completely disappear in full-term pregnancy, while a very small number of them may remain until delivery. The causes of these punctate strong echoes in the right and left ventricles are mainly related to thickening of the intraventricular tendon cords or mineral deposits in the center of the papillary muscles or incomplete perforation of the papillary muscles, and most of them decrease in size and disappear with the increase of gestational months. If there is a combination of other abnormal ultrasound indicators, there may be fetal chromosomal abnormalities, and then prenatal diagnosis is required. It is worth noting that if pregnant women find the presence of punctate strong echoes in the fetus, please go to the regular hospital in time, under the guidance of the obstetrician to improve the genetic examination of the fetus as well as to clarify the treatment plan.
