What causes a bubbling sound in the throat

The reason for the bubbling sound in the throat can be that there is gas mixed in the saliva in the hypopharynx, pharyngo-esophageal diverticulum or reflux pharyngolaryngitis, and so on. 1. Gas mixed in hypopharyngeal saliva: When eating or simply swallowing saliva, the liquid in the hypopharynx contains gas, which can appear as a bubble sound due to gas uplift and extrusion bursting in the process of entering the esophagus through the hypopharyngeal structure. This is a normal physiologic phenomenon and does not require alarm or special treatment. 2. Pharyngo-esophageal diverticulum: Because there is a weak triangle between the hypopharyngeal contraction muscle and the cricopharyngeal muscle, coupled with the incoordination of the muscle activity, i.e., when the hypopharyngeal contraction muscle is contracting to push the food downward, the cricopharyngeal muscle does not relax or contracts prematurely, resulting in the esophageal mucosa puffing out of the weak area, which is a puffed pseudodiverticulum. It is asymptomatic in the early stage. When the diverticulum increases in size, there may be gurgling sound during swallowing. 3. reflux pharyngitis: the existence of gastroesophageal reflux disease patients, when the stomach contents wrapped in the stomach gas reflux to the throat, can produce the throat with bubble sound performance. If the voice bubbling sound occurs frequently, you can actively seek medical advice, follow the doctor’s instructions for systematic examination, and standardize the diagnosis and treatment after the cause is clear.
