Symptoms of dampness-heat impregnating the spleen include epigastric rumbling and bloating, nausea, poor appetite, dry mouth and thirst, and red tongue with yellowish greasy coating. Representative formulas include Huo Park Xia Ling Tang. Dampness-heat embracing the spleen is caused by feeling the evil of dampness-heat and overeating fat, sweetness, thick and greasy food. Clinical manifestations include abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, dullness (lack of appetite, reduced food intake), thirst, greasy face, sticky stools, short and red urine (small amount of urine, dark yellow in color), red tongue with yellow greasy moss, and slippery pulse. The composition of representative formula Huo Park Xia Ling Tang is Hou Pu, Huo Xiang, Tempeh, Semen Ha, Cardamom, Almonds and Ze Xie Di. The effect is to clear away dampness and heat, and regulate the flow of Qi.
