Can Selenium Tablets Treat Liver Cancer

Currently selenium tablets are not usually used to treat liver cancer. Primary liver cancer is one of the common digestive system tumors and one of the malignant tumors with the highest mortality rate in China. Liver cancer can be treated with general therapy, targeted drugs (e.g., lenvatinib, etc.), surgical resection (e.g., partial hepatectomy, etc.), radiotherapy, chemotherapy (e.g., adriamycin, etc.), and other treatments. In some studies, selenium has been found to inhibit cancer through various pathways, such as activating the DNA repair system and inducing apoptosis in tumor cells, among other conditions. However, there are no high-quality studies, evidence-based medical studies, or expert consensus or guidelines recommending selenium tablets for the treatment of liver cancer. Therefore, selenium tablets are not usually used for the treatment of liver cancer. If liver cancer is suspected or diagnosed, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals to evaluate the condition, follow the doctor’s instructions to cooperate with the treatment, and choose the appropriate treatment plan to avoid delaying the condition. For medication, please strictly follow the doctor’s prescription and do not use medication on your own.
