How to recognize a dog bite wound

Recognize dog bites by the following: the dog’s upper and lower teeth can cause damage, the wound is symmetrical, blunt, irregular wound edges, with avulsion injuries. Dog bite patients should be given routine treatment for minor injuries, such as larger wounds should be removed from foreign bodies and necrotic tissue, the wound should be flushed with saline or diluted iodophor solution, and drenched with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, the wound should not be sutured, it should be left open to drain, which is very important for recovery. Dog bite patients should be injected with tetanus, antitoxin or immunoglobulin, and antibiotics should be given to prevent infection. Rabies vaccine and immunoglobulin should be applied immediately after the injury at the local health immunization station, and infiltration injections should be given around the wound. If rabies vaccine active immunization is used for patients, one rabies vaccine should be injected on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, and 28th day after the injury, for a total of five injections.
