What to do about recurrent senile vaginitis

The principle of treatment for recurrent geriatric vaginitis is to increase vaginal resistance and inhibit bacterial growth. Increasing vaginal resistance requires estrogen therapy to address the cause of the disease. The main cause of geriatric vaginitis is estrogen deficiency. Topical medication can be estrogenic vaginal preparations or estrone gemini ointment applied locally 2 times/day. Systemic medication can be oral preparations containing estradiol, small doses maintained for 2-3 months is not easy to recur. Inhibition of bacterial growth can be inhibited by douching the vagina with 1% lactic acid or 0.5% acetic acid solution to increase vaginal acidity. At the same time, apply metronidazole or norfloxacin to be placed deep in the vagina 1 time/day for 7-10 days as a course of treatment. For recurrent vaginitis, estrogen preparations are recommended for at least 3 months. A course of topical medication is given every month for at least 6 months.
