Symptoms of multiple hemangiomas of the liver

Generally speaking, for multiple hemangiomas in the liver, if the tumor is small, there is no clinical symptom; if the tumor is large, more than 5cm, some patients may show hidden pain or distension in the right epigastric quarter rib area, which is mostly due to the pain caused by tension of hepatic pericardium after the hemangioma enlarges. At this time, patients should further investigate the color ultrasound or enhanced CT of the upper abdomen to exclude other primary tumors of the liver, and draw blood to check the alpha-fetoprotein, etc. If the tumor is more than 5cm, patients are recommended to actively investigate the tumor. If the tumor is more than 5cm, it is suggested that the patient should actively consider surgical treatment, and there are two main ways of surgical treatment, one is the liver hemangioma debulking surgery under the laparoscopy or open abdomen, and this kind of surgical treatment is more thorough; the other one can choose the liver hemangioma embolization under the interventional procedure, but this kind of embolization is only used in the hemangiomas with a smaller tumor, and it is possible that the tumor may increase in size after the interventional procedure for the larger hemangioma. The other option is embolization of liver hemangioma under intervention.
