What’s wrong with high thyroglobulin tg?

TG is the abbreviation of thyroglobulin. High TG may be caused by autoimmune thyroid disease, hyperthyroidism, recurrence of papillary thyroid carcinoma and so on.
1. Autoimmune thyroid disease: such as Graves’ disease, chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, etc., the patient’s immune system is abnormal, and under the stimulation of the immune system, excessive thyroid hormones will be secreted, which will lead to the elevation of TG.
2. Hyperthyroidism: the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormone in the patient’s body is increased, and thyroid hormone is able to synthesize thyroglobulin, which may lead to TG elevation.
3. Recurrence of papillary thyroid cancer: thyroglobulin plays an important role in monitoring whether papillary thyroid cancer recurs after resection. When patients with papillary thyroid cancer have high thyroglobulin level after surgery, it usually suggests recurrence or distant metastasis of papillary thyroid cancer.
If the patient develops elevated thyroglobulin (TG), it is recommended to go to the hospital for further examination to clarify the diagnosis.
