People with lumbar scoliosis need to choose the appropriate correction methods according to the degree of scoliosis, including conservative treatment and surgical treatment. Conservative treatment can also be based on the condition of the patient, choosing rehabilitation exercises or supportive therapy. 1. Rehabilitation exercises: mainly for people with mild compensatory lumbar scoliosis caused by improper posture, etc. Rehabilitation exercises are carried out under the guidance of doctors. Exercises include head and foot lifting in the prone position, alternating backward extension of shoulders and upper limbs, and alternating backward extension of hips and lower limbs. 2. Brace therapy: mainly for mild to moderate compensatory scoliosis, can choose thoracic – lumbar – sacral brace (Boston brace) and so on, can play a role through the scoliosis to exert pressure. The brace needs to be customized and the wearing time needs to be determined by the doctor according to the condition of the scoliosis. 3. Surgery: This is mainly for people with severe scoliosis. If the degree of scoliosis is greater than 40 degrees, if it is difficult to control the progress of the scoliosis with brace treatment, or if there is obvious pain or nerve compression in the lower back, surgery can be chosen to correct the scoliosis. If scoliosis is suspected, it is recommended to consult a doctor, who will formulate a treatment plan according to the cause, severity, and skeletal maturity of the scoliosis.
