Breast cancer grade III is a pathologic classification, not a pathological or clinical stage, so breast cancer grade III may be early, intermediate or advanced. Breast cancer grade III refers to the histomorphologic grading of breast cancer, based on the formation of breast cancer ducts and nuclear plethora and nuclear schizophrenia counts. Each criterion is calculated using points, with 3 points being assigned to a criterion, e.g., 3-5 points for grade I, 6-7 points for grade II, and 8-9 points for grade III. The grading of breast cancer can also represent the degree of differentiation of the breast cancer, with highly differentiated being grade I, moderately differentiated being grade II, and poorly differentiated being grade III. Lowly differentiated breast cancer is usually characterized by high aggressiveness, high proliferative activity and easy recurrence. The grading of breast cancer does not represent the clinical stage, so breast cancer grade lll may be intermediate, early or advanced.
