Hurting food refers to the TCM evidence of dietary stagnation, which is a pathological condition in which food cannot be properly transported and absorbed and stays in the stomach due to factors such as overfeeding or weakness of the spleen and stomach. Most people who do not eat much always hurt their appetite because of the weakness of the spleen and stomach.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, the stomach is the main receptor (acceptance), and the spleen is the main transporter (the spleen has the function of digesting food, absorbing food essence and water and transferring it to the whole body). After eating, food will first be accepted by the stomach, and then transporter by the spleen, and then finally become the essence of the material spread throughout the body to complete the various life activities of the human being.
When the spleen and stomach are weak, the stomach’s receiving function and the spleen’s transportation function cannot function properly, resulting in the stomach not being able to accept food properly and the manifestation of not eating much, and at the same time, the food that enters the stomach cannot be transformed into subtle substances by the spleen’s normal transportation and transformation function, thus manifesting as not eating much, but always hurting the food.
Clinically, if the patient has any discomfort symptoms, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time and take medication as prescribed by the doctor.
