What is the difference between isotonic saline and hypertonic

The difference between isotonic saline and hypertonic saline is mainly reflected in the concentration of different sizes, different uses, and need to comply with the doctor’s instructions for medication.
1. Isotonic saline: consistent with the osmotic pressure in the body, medical 0.9% sodium chloride solution, that is, saline is isotonic. It is often used as a base solution for intravenous injections or to gargle to remove excess bacteria from the mouth and also to remove excess bacteria from the nasal cavity.
2. Hypertonic saline: i.e. saline with high osmotic pressure, saline with more than 0.9% concentration is hypertonic. Hypertonic saline can be used to correct hypotonic dehydration and is commonly administered orally or intravenously.
In addition, it is not recommended to use saline on your own at will, and it needs to be used in a standardized way under the guidance of a professional doctor in order to play the role of saline.
