Can thyroiditis heal on its own?

There are many types of thyroiditis, including subacute thyroiditis, postpartum thyroiditis, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis; subacute thyroiditis and postpartum thyroiditis are self-limiting, while Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is generally not self-limiting and should be treated actively. Subacute thyroiditis is a self-limiting disease, the most common thyroid pain disease, most patients will be cured in a few weeks or months; postpartum thyroiditis also has a certain self-limiting, most patients can be relieved in about six months after delivery. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis does not usually resolve spontaneously and is prone to permanent hypothyroidism, which may require lifelong thyroid hormone replacement therapy. Thyroiditis should be actively treated with standardized tests and treatments to minimize the adverse effects on the body, and should be regularly reviewed and monitored.
