What a positive TSPOT test can tell you

TSPOT is the T-cell spot test for tuberculosis infection. A positive result can indicate that the organism is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and it is recommended that the patient needs to undergo further examination such as lung CT to confirm the diagnosis. TSPOT refers to the examination of T-cell secretion to determine whether the body is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. If the result of TSPOT is positive, it indicates that the body is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but it is not possible to determine whether it is latent tuberculosis or active tuberculosis. It is recommended that the patient undergoes T-cell spot test for tuberculosis infection, and after the positive result, lung CT, blood routine, tuberculosis sputum smear and other tests are needed. If the result of T-cell spot test is positive, the patient should consult a doctor, who will combine the results of other tests with the patient’s condition to make a diagnosis and give appropriate treatment.
