In our work, we often encounter such cases: parents find that their child has strabismus and come to the doctor anxiously, but after examination, the doctor says that the child is completely normal and the parents see a “pseudo-strabismus”. Is there a difference between true and false strabismus?
Strabismus is a phenomenon in which both eyes cannot look at the target at the same time, and one eye looks at the target while the other eye’s line of sight is deviated, which is called strabismus.
The key to diagnosing strabismus is to determine whether there is a deviation of the visual axis. The purpose of repeated examinations by the doctor is to determine whether there is a separation of the visual axis at different gaze distances and different gaze eye positions.
Some children have a wide and flat nasal bridge with an obvious soft horseshoe crab calcium not (3) Yi clumsy ho Guo idle. The word widowed dustpan emblem R is not standardized in the appearance of internal strabismus; children whose pupils are distant from each other may have the appearance of exotropia, a condition in which the optic axes of both eyes are not deviated but there is the appearance of strabismus doctors call pseudostrabismus. Occasional internal or external strabismus is common in normal infants under 3 months of age because the visual reflexes and binocular motor coordination are not yet perfect.
Parents may be concerned only with the appearance, while doctors are concerned with the visual axis of both eyes, so “disagreements” between doctors and parents are inevitable.
Parents are advised to see a doctor promptly if they notice a problem!
