What is fat pad inflammation

  I. Etiology and pathology The subheel fat pad is composed of a multifibrous compartment structure filled with adipose tissue. It has the function of absorbing stress and cushioning shock. However, after middle and old age, the fat in the fat pad degenerates and the elasticity decreases, making the fat pad softer and thinner, and the ability to absorb stress decreases, which reduces the protective effect on the heel nodes and causes osteochondritis of the heel nodes and pain. Symptoms and diagnosis Heel-plantar side pain, can not wear hard-soled shoes. Walking on an inelastic surface causes pain. Examination: no local swelling. The fat under the heel loses elasticity and becomes thin. Sometimes the heel nodule can be palpated through the fat pad. There is significant pressure pain in the center of the fat pad. Two conditions should be identified for diagnosis: 1. painful fat protrusion (piezogenic palpules): after weight-bearing of the heel, the fat of the plantar area protrudes from the skin and localized ischemia of the adipose tissue, causing pain. 2, fat pad exfoliation: fat pad exfoliation from the metatarsal side of its heel, and a bursa can be formed between the two. Third, treatment The heel pad protection has a better efficacy. In case of severe pain, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving drugs can be used. Unlike metatarsal tenosynovitis, this condition is not suitable for treatment with closure. Because hormones can cause atrophy of the fat pad.
