Generally speaking, 50% forward sperm movement is considered normal. Forward moving sperm (PR) is one of the monitoring indicators in routine semen examination to assess the quality of male semen. According to the fifth edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) standards, normal male sperm forward motility needs to reach ≥32%, while 50% forward motility of sperm is within the normal range and there is no need to worry too much. Forward-moving spermatozoa are categorized into class A spermatozoa and class B spermatozoa. Class A spermatozoa refers to the number of spermatozoa moving forward in a fast straight line, while class B spermatozoa refers to the number of spermatozoa moving forward in a curved line quickly, and when A and B add up to ≥ 50%, it is generally indicative of normal spermatozoa motility. Abstinence for 3~5 days should be prescribed before the routine semen test, and more than 3 tests should be done to be more accurate, not one test is the accurate result.
